We are the Office of Women's Health Research Chair in Mental Health (OWHC) who engage in community-based research and knowledge transfer with marginalized populations. We aim to conduct research, the outcomes of which can be translated into practice and policy recommendations. We actively conduct knowledge transfer initiatives, in various formats and venues, to disseminate research findings. Team researchers promote the involvement of key stakeholders (e.g., community members, health and social service providers) into research design and implementation. Applying an intersectionality-informed lens, and through interdisciplinary collaboration, we have conducted community-based research with women (focus on gender-based violence), youth (examining cultural identities through arts-based research), and families (applying an equity lens to explore impacts of migration status, gender, and developmental disabilities).
