dc.description.abstractThis multi-modal dissertation focuses on research creation of haptic cinema and new ways of designing immersive story experiences with volumetric video. Recent technical innovation of volumetric video allows new definitions of haptic cinema to include self-gaze by artists to be explored in an accessible way. The research creation developed were prototypes using volumetric video in virtual and extended reality (XR) environments. Various tools were considered during the research creation process including Unity, Unreal Engine, Depthkit, Mozilla Spoke Hubs, Ableton, and Radical.
