This community-based research is a collaboration between Women’s Health in Women’s Hands Community Health Centre and York University. The study aims to give voice to lived experiences of racialized immigrant women, to develop understandings of how they conceptualize dimensions of activism, implications for mental health promotion, and to foster community capacity, collaborative practices and policy strategies to promote their well being. The study has been funded by CERIS (Centre of Excellence for Research on Immigration and Settlement), the Faculty of Health at York University, and CIHR (Canadian Institutes of Health Research).
