dc.description.abstract"The 5% is a film that reflects on the true stories of deaf individuals. The filmmaker, Alexandra Hickoxs intent is to leave the audience with thoughts and questions after watching, and to consider deaf individuals actual experiences. Five percent of the worlds population are recognized as deaf. But even as a sizable minority group, their situation is not universally recognized. People that are deaf should not be viewed separately from those that can hear, as they experience life very similar, and yet separate, from the rest of us.
