Health coaching is an innovative strategy that integrates goal-oriented partnership between the client and the health coach to promote health behaviour changes, and prevent and manage chronic conditions. This study investigated the effects of six month long smartphone-assisted health coaching trial on self-reported health behaviour outcomes among Canadian employees (n=73). Participants reported general health status, physical activity, perceived stress, depressive distress, life satisfaction and health risks at baseline and completion of the program. Post-intervention interviews were conducted to gain insight into key components of health coaching that are associated with greater behaviour change and program adherence. Analyses revealed a significant increase in general health status (p<0.001). Participants experienced belonging and connectivity in relation to their self-experience, the coach, and the electronic tools. They used comprehensive approaches to individual goal directions in achieving healthier lifestyle. These results have important implications for workplace programs especially with electronic connectivity for health behaviour accountability.
