| dc.description.abstract | This paper deconstructs the causes of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest using the Causal Layered Analysis framework to provide an overview for social businesses that wish to contribute to the mitigation of this problem. The objective of this deeper analysis is to find the systemic issues that are created by a diversity of environmental worldviews that coexist in the area. With the current push to align conservation and technological breakthroughs, the project Amazon 4.0 presents a solution to deforestation at the intersection of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and mainstream Sustainability practices. However, this paper also identifies some of the risks this project presents for a modern type of colonization in the area by facilitating access to Big Tech companies. In the end, the main insights will be summarized in the conclusion, and recommendations for changing the narrative that drives deforestation will be presented. | en_US |
