I am a Costa Rican artist and water defender doing a Masters in Environmental Studies in York University. One of the big reasons that inspired me to enroll in this program was to get a wider view of the hegemonic powers behind water privatization. and also to learn new tools and methodologies that could improve my current work. This major project focuses on one case study: San Rafael river defense. This particular struggle headed by rural communities in the south of Costa Rica is a successful example of how hegemony can be defeated, at least temporarily.en_US
