| dc.description.abstract | In Canadian cities, the opportunities for accessing affordable homes for lower to moderate income households has become increasingly difficult. Rising housing prices and prevalent issues revolved around affordability are placing pressure on local communities. Community Land Trusts (CLTs) are a strategic approach for providing the opportunity of affordable homeownership for lower to moderate-income households, and where the benefits are shared as a community. The purpose of this Major Paper is to explore the roles that CLTs have in providing and protecting affordable housing for Canadian cities. This paper intends on providing information about the functions, operations, advantages, and limitations of CLTs for individuals, organizations, and institutions who may be interested in this model for providing affordable housing. Finally, the research explores a range of information, policies, and experiences that aim to supplement the Major Paper. | en_US |
