This research paper examines the theories and principles of ecological planning, design and restoration as they apply to the development of a concept plan for a site located within the Rouge Park in the Greater Toronto Area. The paper outlines the theoretical and practical underpinnings used to analyze and assess the site, and develop appropriate recommendations. The disciplines on which this paper draws include: landscape ecology, ecological planning and design, ecological restoration, and public space planning. Concepts and guidelines from these disciplines are integrated into a plan, and accompanying recommendations. Both the plan and recommendations address the human and ecological components, and more importantly, their positive and successful interactions and connections on the site.en_US
