Les effets de la décennie noire sur la littérature féminine en Algérie

In the beginning of the 1990s, Algeria became a ferocious battlefield between two parties: the FLN political party backed by the military, and the opposition consisting of activists and militants representing the FIS party. This socio-political conflict led to acts of violence destroying the Algerian society. Many female writers, such as Massa Bey, Malika Mokeddem, Latifa Ben Mansour and Lela Marouane, had the courage to denounce the outdated traditions being imposed as well as the corrupted regime of their country. Among their goals was to unveil and condemn the Algerian reality of that period, and to fight relentlessly for the human rights of Algerian women, who were marginalized at all levels of society. Their writings have become the platform for these silenced voices. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate the impact of the Black decade on some of the writings of the female authors mentioned above.
