    Green Initiatives database
(Adapting Canadian Work and Workplaces (ACW), 2014) Clarke, Linda; Stevis, Dimitris; Adapting Canadian Work and Workplaces (ACW)
The Green Initiatives Database covers campaigns, projects, networks, research and training activities in which unions are or have been involved, proactively or reactively, directly or indirectly (but significantly), alone or as partners, across Europe and the USA. The information in the database was collected by Linda Clarke and Dimitris Stevis, in a process described in their 2017 presentation "Green Transitions in the US and Europe: Breadth, Depth and Worker Agency" (https://yorkspace.library.yorku.ca/xmlui/handle/10315/39299/). Their working papers also relate to this research, especially: - Stevis (2019), "Labour Unions and Green Transitions in the USA: Contestations and Explanations" (https://yorkspace.library.yorku.ca/xmlui/handle/10315/39419/) and - Clarke, Sahin-Dikmen and Gleeson (2018), "Green Transitions in the Built Environment: Europe" (https://yorkspace.library.yorku.ca/xmlui/handle/10315/38829/). This database was created in Wordpress, originally on the Adapting Canadian Work website, at https://adaptingcanadianwork.ca/green-initiatives-database/. We have exported the information and reformatted it into a PDF organized by initiative type.

Climate Change, Work and Workers: A Bibliography
(Adapting Canadian Work and Workplaces (ACW), 2022) Perry, Elizabeth
This bibliography was created with Zotero software, and consists of over 4000 references to books, journal articles, working papers and reports – with an emphasis on Canadian authors and experience. It is organized by topics, such as Just Transition, Environmental Racism, and Labour union documents. It is also searchable by key words, author, title, and allows users to select items of interest and construct their own bibliographies. The database may still be available at https://www.zotero.org/w3citations/library, but has not been maintained or updated since December 2021. Bibliographies derived from the whole database are: Just Transition; Climate initiatives by Canadian labour unions; Environmental Racism. The CSV export from Zotero can be used by those with the Zotero application installed on their computers. To download the free Zotero application, go to https://www.zotero.org/. Download this CSV file to your hard drive, open the Zotero application, and use the “Import” function in Zotero to view the contents. An alternative for those with Zotero on their computers: use the compressed folder and move it directly into the Zotero user directory. It consists of an SQL file and a "storage" folder of library items.

    Green Collective Agreements database
(Adapting Canadian Work and Workplaces (ACW), 2022) Perry, Elizabeth
The Green Collective Agreements database identifies almost 300 green clauses which reflect the ways in which Canadian labour unions have sought to protect their members’ health, safety, job security, or pay, and to discharge their broader social responsibility to mitigate climate change impacts. The database was compiled by searching the publicly available websites such as the federal government’s Negotech website (https://negotech.labour.gc.ca/cgi-bin/RechercheSearchNegotheque/index.aspx), as well as provincial websites. Key unions also provided texts of their agreements. The ACW Green Collective Agreements searchable database may still be available at https://www.zotero.org/green_agreements/library, but has not been updated since December 2021. Green Bargaining Language 2022 Samples from the ACW Database.pdf is provided as an easy-to-read sampling of agreements and the text of clauses. The GreenCollectiveAgreements20220316.csv file can be used by those with the Zotero application installed on their computers. To download the free Zotero application, go to https://www.zotero.org/. Then download the CSV file to your hard drive, open the Zotero application, and use the “Import” function in Zotero to save the contents.
