Teaching Resources for Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing for Online Learning

Permanent URI for this collection

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, teaching and learning has moved to an online environment. Many course directors are using live Zoom as a platform for face-to-face teaching and/or making increased use of multimedia materials (e.g. prerecorded lectures, audio and video content from the internet, etc.). Accessing audio and video material can be challenging for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This collection provides videos, documents and online resources for course directors to help make online learning accessible for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Each video is captioned, and accompanied by a pdf file containing the powerpoint slides, as well as a one page handout on the topic of the video. Video topics include: Overview of challenges in online learning for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Tips for making Zoom accessible for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Tips for using Zoom with a sign language interpreter
