Here I tell several small stories, including stories about telling stories. None of the narratives are separate from the others, each one is connected to the last as part of a larger story. This larger story is my story as a Child of Deaf Adults (Coda). It is a Coda story set someplace between compulsory able-bodiedness and desiring deafness. In this process I hope to uncover and challenge parts of my Coda story and versions of myself I have been questioning for years. This journey has raised many questions but at its heart lies one central question: what is it that makes me hearing?enThe copyright for the paper content remains with the author.autoethnographydeafness and hearingChild of Deaf Adults (CODA)storiesCoda/Hearing/Deaf: Telling Stories in the BorderlandsResearch Paper
