Abstract

Zoe Druick's prefatory remarks provide a historical context and a brief analysis of the 1965 film documentary featuring Brabara Godard as a young subject.

Description

Zoe Druick's introduction takes us back to the years 1964-65, when Barbara Godard was studying and teaching at the University of Montreal. The filmmaker Jack Zolov conducted several interviews with her, which he included in his 28 min. documentary called "Mademoiselle Barbara." It was released by the National Film Board in 1965. Dr. Druick discusses the film in the context of a gendered thematic in Quebec nationalist cinema.
